One of our favorite outdoor furniture brands, Gloster, features an interesting video, showing the evolution “from seed to seat.”
The company’s attitude towards their production of teak is commendable. The idea is to act environmentally responsible by “knowing your wood.” Gloster’s plantation workers, whom the company has known for a long time, harvest only what they have planted themselves. Their teak has a lifecycle as long as 50 years. In addition, every tree is traceable back to its origin. That is how Gloster builds trust. They treat the environment, their resources and the people who work for them with respect. Transparency and honesty is a core value within Gloster—because it matters!
