Side Arm vs. Center Pole

Once you have had a side-arm umbrella, you will never go back to a center-pole one. Our home faces west and the afternoon and evening sun can be a real killer. For years we suffered through late lunches and dinners being blinded by the sun. Then came along Umbrosa’s Spectra Umbrella.
I was hesitant at first given the cost difference between a less expensive center-pole and the more expensive side-arm umbrella. Boy, am I glad that I splurged. The Umbrosa Spectra Side-Arm umbrella allows me to block the sun no matter what angle it hits our deck, and my kids say it looks so much cooler than a center-pole umbrella. Since its base is on wheels, the umbrella is easy to move around to cover various seating groups. Bottom line, side-arm umbrellas offer so much more flexibility when it comes to providing shade for your dining or lounge area.
As of recently, the Umbrosa Spectra umbrella also comes in a Duo version (two canopies side by side). I am now considering trading up. I will keep you posted as to our decision—guess the kids wanna weigh in on that one too …
